This morning Sigma announced a new lens mount converter and two new lenses. Soon you will be able to add the Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art lens and/or the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens to your existing collection of Sigma lenses.

Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art

The 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art lens is the first telephoto zoom lens with a F1.8 aperture for APS-C DSLRs. This lens combines a wide span of different telephoto focal lengths with a fast and consistent aperture. This new art lens is predicted to be well liked by not only still photographers, but also videographers. You can expect to see this lens become available at the end of April. Some highlights of this new lens include:

  • a focal length of 50-100mm that can be compared to a 80-160mm focal length
  • a minimum aperture of f/16 and a maximum of f/1.8
  • 3 FLD and 1 SLD Elements
  • Multi-Layer Coating

Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary

The Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens is a new high performance, low cost F1.4 lens made for Sony e-mount mirrorless cameras and micro four thirds. This lens is going to be very popular because of its phenomenal performance at such a great price. Some highlights of the lens include:

  • 45mm equivalent focal length
  • Minimum aperture of f/16 and a maximum aperture of f/1.4
  • Stepping AF Motor

Sigma MC-11 Converter

Alongside these two new Sigma lenses, a Sigma adapter was also announced. The new Sigma MC-11 Converter allows you to pair lenses with the Sony FE and E mounts. This adapter is available in Sigma SA-Sony FE and Canon EOS EF-Sony FE verisons.

    With the FE Sigma adapter, it’s intriguing having an A7 body paired with my Canon gear. If only I had the cash, hah.

    Wow, that’s an impressive zoom lens. While the aperture is fantastic, I think it’s a little short for me (especially at that price).

      It weighs as much as the canon 70-200 f2.8, I wonder if they made it out of transparent lead.

        It’s made out of a technical substance called glass. It’s quite heavy stuff when you use a lot of it.
